Happy new year!
Tue 01/04/11
Sending Orbs wishes you all a happy and inspiring 2011!

I'm sorry to let you guys know that our 'inactive status' will remain unchanged for the time being due to personal circumstances. The 5 year (+1) anniversary compilation CD is therefore on hold. The SO shop is still up and running though. As soon as things turn back to normal I'll announce it here. Thanks for your support and understanding.

summer update
Sat 08/07/10
dear folks, it's about time for an update.

first of all, after 5 fantastic years, Wouter decided to leave Sending Orbs. he made this decision early this year. we are very thankful for his inspired dedication to SO over the past years. he will definitely still be around at our HQ's and he might even prepare one of your orders at a new album release. fancy that!
me and reimer will continue to run the label. no worriez!

secondly, the reason that we havent been active the past months is primarily due to my PhD project. i need to finish the thesis before the end of October and it has been a crazy time ever since the beginning of this year. behind the scenes, however, we have been working on the SO 5 year anniversary compilation album. with all (!) SO artists joined up we arranged about 80% of the tracks so far, and Jeroen Advocaat is working on a fabulous piece of art destined for it.
we aim at releasing it as soon as i'm done with the PhD. and i promise, i will thank you all for your patience in the preface of the resulting book :)

so, we'll be back in business from October on, starting with the 5 year comp. and lots more to be expected after that. we got some great things lined up.

Press release:
At Sending Orbs we are always happy to find fellow-travellers on our path going the same way. So when Markus Guentner's album hit our headquarters we were unanimously for adding it to our little wall of love.

Guentner is mostly known for his techno work on the Kompakt label, but what he has done for us here is nothing alike.

"Doppelgaenger" is like a field-trip into minimal ambientland. Once you've dove into it, there's neither a beginning nor an end, there are just these endless waves of pads, synth figures and drones that sit in your brain and watch you closely while your mind wanders off.

Think Yagya or Gas in terms of hypnotic. Think a musical veteran that masters every aspect of the job in terms of productional value.

No, this is not the new, dense, clubsmashing dubstep monster out there; this here is musical gold that isn't trying to please, but will prove itself in the long run for the ears that are willing to take the time to think out of the box. We think this is an album you'll be coming home to, over and over again.

Markus Guentner signed
Wed 09/30/09
We're very proud to announce Markus Guentner signed up for a full album release on Sending Orbs titled "Doppelgaenger". Guentner is known for his releases on Kompakt ("In Moll", "1981") and Ware ("Audio Island", "Lovely Society"). "Doppelgaenger" is an ambient album that satisfies our never-ending thirst for good music. The German album title means double/lookalike/dead ringer.

We are aware of our broad and varied fan base so here's a cautious attempt to manage expectations: position Doppelgaenger between Blamstrain's Disfold and Secede's Tryshasla, add to this a touch of Yagya's beatless soundscapes, and you get very compassionate ambient that opens up your dream world once again. Guentner's impressive bio can be found here.

Instead of our usual procedure of releasing music, i.e. we announce stuff and then we let you wait (for a long time), we have kept this news under cover for a while. Jeroen Advocaat is painting his last brush strokes on a new cover art masterpiece as we speak, which means we will send Doppelgaenger to the pressing plant soon. The expected release date is somewhere in November.

This is not all folks. Five years ago, three guys met to discuss the idea of starting a small label. We started small by releasing a handful of Through Friendly Waters copies of our brother and dear friend Kettel in January 2005. Now, 12 releases and more than 20.000 physical copies sold world-wide later, we can announce our 5th anniversary. Expect a number of really nice *things* just after the turn of the year.
